The Ag Science project encompasses the initial building phase of the West Hills College Coalinga – Farm of the Future. The scope of work includes the new construction of two 1,200 sf concession/restroom buildings adjacent to the main rodeo arena, a 1,500 sf storage/restroom building for students, a 3,600 sf tack storage building and a 15,000 sf farm laboratory building. The concession/restroom buildings will provide direct services for the main rodeo arena events. The two buildings adjacent to the horse stalls will provide storage, restroom/shower facilities, and tack storage for the students and staff. The farm laboratory building consists of three 4,500 sf classroom spaces that can accommodate various instructional settings as required.
Related sitework consists of paved driveways, parking lots and fire lanes, as well as utility infrastructure to support the master site plan. Also included in the project are new horse stalls with accessible concrete walkways, new fencing at the rodeo arenas and pastures and elevated bleacher seating for approximately 1,000 spectators at the main rodeo arena.
Construction began in November 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2012. Total construction cost is $12,074,314.
